Our Top Picks: Outdoor Activities

Spotlight On: The Tampa Riverwalk

The Tampa Riverwalk is, you guessed it, a cool 2.6 mile water-lined walk or run through downtown Tampa. Starting at The Sail, grab a libation and a grouper caesar salad before choosing a water taxi, paddleboard or those feet to take you along a picturesque tour of downtown. How do you know you’ve reached the end? When you hit Armature Works for some more libations and food! This food hall was a water works building before developers transformed it into the crown jewel of Tampa Heights. What’s in between? Curtis Hixon Park, Glazer Children’s Museum, Tampa Museum of Modern Art, The Straz Performing Arts Center, Water Works Park and Ulele. If that isn’t plenty to do for a sunny afternoon, we don’t know what is!

Parks: Just in the Tampa area, there are 10 fantastic parks that include gorgeous greenways and trails to really immerse yourself in Florida nature. Grab those hiking shoes and yoga pants because you’re going to want to check these out! If you’re looking for a walk or run that’s just as architecturally pleasing as the Riverwalk’s but lengthier? Look no more as Bayshore Blvd is our go-to. Dotted with Tampa’s wealthiest homes on one side the water on the other, you’ll wish the trail was longer than 4.5 miles.

Golf: Tampa is one of the top destinations for some major green time. Home to the Valspar Championship, the city has plenty of courses that fits each level of player. If a course isn’t your speed, Topgolf is always a fun place to have drinks, food and an overall good time while swinging a club for points! We have about 10 courses in the area with a couple more a hop and skip over the bridge into the Clearwater/St. Petersburg area. Put on some sunscreen and tee off at any of these courses.

Ybor City: Tampa’s roots originate in Ybor City! Originally a port town, cuban history runs deep making this strip of brick an historic area. Enjoy a cigar, walk to the many stores (including the vintage clothing boutiques), grab a beer at Rock Brothers or Coppertail, catch a live show at The Ritz or get a tattoo! You can even catch a movie then play some games at GameTime afterwards. Plenty to do Ybor! The search for Tampa’s best cuban sandwich also starts here at the Columbia Restaurant.

We are huge supporters of local makers, artisans and small businesses so when the weather is sunny and cool everything moves outdoors! Other areas for shopping include Hyde Park for an afternoon of luxury shopping and tasty bites at its many restaurants or the Tampa Premium Outlets to knock out all the major holiday shopping. Here’s a list of shopping malls to check off needed items on your list.
